Sweet Salvation: Using Biblical Spices, Herbs, Plants, Oils, and Trees
Thorns and thistles were my life before,The bitterness of wormwood sickened me.
Mallow and doves dung I ate no more,
the Wilderness was the land I did flee.
Mandrakes couldn't weigh down my strong tongue,
now saffron stains my lips.
Mint replaces the harsh words that stung,
And mint tea is the drink I sip.
Sweet cicely ridded my awful stench,
Hyssop cleansed me thoroughly.
My name is no longer "you" or "wench,"
I am called sister honorably.
Acacia wood would be the crown I wear,
Myrrh and cinnamon will be the odor for me.
The water lily decorates my long hair,
To match the sunshine upon the olive tree.
At last a sweet savor of frankincense,
Marks a fresh start with no end.
The strong smell of spikenard fragrance,
Made the boughs of the thick trees grin.
The oleander rose by the waterside,
The willow of the brook.
No sinking sand from the ocean tide,
Salvation was the gift I took.
I'm Confused About This Whole Christian Thing! Part 2 ( I believe)
Grace and mercy is the Lord
because now I believe!
before now the God that's bigger
than the universe I simply could not perceive.
It took some tuggin in my heart
to convert this old fool
but you know God certainly works fast,
friends day and Sunday school, revival was a holy blast!
Now I see why Grandma prayed so hard
to see my pitiful soul saved,
no thoughts of leaving the pew that day
bad thoughts were surely shaved.
I can think back when there was doubt,
and confusion took over me.
most curious and dissatisfied,
because my God I could not see.
My Lord, my Savior, and my redeemer
my lips are full of praise,
hallelujah! praise the Lord!
and twice on Sundays.
I'll faithfully serve you every day
and I'll humbly glorify you,
I thank you Jesus with all of my heart
in everything I do.
I believe!
The Fame and Unfortunate
Wow I cant believe this all happened so fast.
I don't know where to begin, I really hope it last.
All the lights surrounding me and fans screaming my name.
I never thought Id get this far with lots of money and fame.
So many people are looking now when I was nothing before
these clothes bring so much attention provided I'm dressed like a whore
My schedule is so hectic with so many things I have to do.
I am busy all the time and It seems I'm never through.
I have a three day tour this week and I have a concert today.
I'm going on four hours of sleep....there is just no way.
The fame....its o.k..... but the simple life I miss.
The money I could really use but I don't think I need this.
Its not all what its portrays to be when watching stars on television smile.
Thinking they have the whole world but it only lasts a little while.
This place is not so glamorous when you lose so much.
Having the fame yet unfortunate, selling your soul and such.
I think Ill resign myself away from this freedom of the press.
The gossip and lies in this part of the world makes life a terrible mess.
Maybe I could write a book or something and write about the days of my youth
or become a missionary to help the helpless and preach the truth.
Let Me Get a Slice Of That American Pie
For those reading my poems, I Believe in my Savior and I have a strong relationship with Him. The poems that I write are not my personal thoughts about God, but rather the thoughts of how other perceive him. Their hurts, their pains, their struggles. I know how these people feel because I've been down that lonely road before, so I understand their pains, sorrows and struggles. There is always victory at the end of every poem. This poem however is a bit different. It shows how a sinner can be unrepentant and uncaring of is salvation just to obtain worldly things and favors. God forgives the repentant sinner.
Let me get a slice of that American pie
I want to climb the corporate ladder.
Bring me their shoes to fit I'm not shy
I'll change who I am, it doesn't matter
I want out of that dang mail room
bring me coffee one lump and no cream.
Have my speech on my desk by noon
That's the life, the American dream.
I'll get there anyway that I can
Sell my soul to the highest bidder.
Lie, cheat, kill any man
Become the biggest sinner.
No one will know how I came to be
I'll just say that I am blessed.
What ever I want, whatever I need
I deserve more and nothing less.
There's nothing wrong with having it all
I just want to live the good life
I'll stay on top and be damned if I fall
and be sharp as a two edged knife.
back stabbing and two faced
all of that is nothing to me
A corporate world and the fast pace
I can be what I want to be.
filthy rich and poor no more
I wouldn't have to just get by
plenty of opportunity and open doors
I want a slice of that American pie!
Oh My Love, Before I Meet You Please Don't Divorce Me
For those reading my poems, I Believe in my Savior and I have a strong relationship with Him. I know how these people feel because I've been down that lonely road before, so I understand their pains, sorrows and struggles. There is always victory at the end of every poem. When you read this poem you will see God's mercy abide with even the one who thinks he doesn't deserve it. God hears the repenting sinner what and his mercy endures forever. Amen!
Through the lonely nights of the hard knox roads
My heart desperately cries to out to you my love
Curious of the weight that harbors emotional loads
and the boughs that accommodates the mourning dove
could it be quite so easy to hear the suffering of my voice
to reach out to me from dejecting places
where I've hid my shame and have regretted my choice
where unchaste behaviors have many faces
My Lord and love who performs marvelous works
no burden is too hard for you to lay and bear
to the drain the swamps where the devil lurks
and where the hardhearted haters swear
I failed you my love and a divorce seems rightfully so
but my Lord, please don't disregard me just yet
I need you to grab hold of me and never let me go
for I need another chance to love you and to repay my debt

In the darkest hours of sin,
Lived a lonely lad.
Who dwelled among heartless men,
With only a journal pad.
With the metallic sound of loose chains
Walked the imprisoned soul.
Not sure of where he might be going
His life has taken its toll.
He treaded the dark road so far
No light to guide his way.
In despair, without the mourning star
with uncertainty, he began to pray.
The light began to shine so bright
So bright it made him cry.
He looked up and saw such a wonderful sight
Of whom he could not deny.
So relieved to know that he was saved
the strong feeling came over him.
Rejoiced and delighted that his way was paved
his life being no longer dim.
how majestic..how powerful is he
who stands before the soul.
the lad reached out in gratitude to see
at last he was forever made whole.
"Praise be the God of the earth,
(The lad was compelled to scream)
I've been set free, it's like a new birth,
I know I have been redeemed!"
