Pain greater than your desire

This title was inspired by a friend of mine Amanda Hill and her blog post "Greater Desire", she posted a wonderful message about going through pain much greater than your desires in this world in order to be in a place where you absolutely need God. Last night a another friend of mine was in that place. I'm not completely sure if what she is going through is the absolute pain she needs to totally submit to God, but it brought her to a place where she knew the only thing to do is pray and seek God for an answer. Without all the details, her life is going in a direction where God is calling her and she is going through some pain right now to get there. She moved into a house this summer that was for sale and it sold yesterday, and boy did she pray for help. God answered her prayer and now she has a couple of homes to choose from. Praise the Lord! Faith some times means going through pain first in order to hear God's voice, but on the other hand a blessing can increase your faith as well. Which one do you prefer?
